The Water Margin

Eating and drinking out in the Almeria region means sampling some of the finest and freshest produce anywhere. Almeria's cuisine has a distinct Arab/North African influence and flavour. There's a strong tendency towards fish, however fresh beef and pork from the Sierra de Guadix are also popular.

The area is a farming region as well and the fruits and vegetables here are prized, some of the best Spanish olive oil is also produced here.

The cooking is normally of a simple and natural style, with the most popular meals being stews, tarbinas, soups and many rice based dishes.

Many of the bars and restaurants in the area are seasonal. Those wanting to stay out late will most likely find the resort areas' bars open later.
